Humanitarian Film Work

As a documentary filmmaker and photojournalist, being welcomed into the lives of people who trust me to capture their stories with integrity, respect, and transparency sparks joy in my heart in the most humbling manner. African Soul American Heart brought me to South Sudan in 2013 for the first time, and over the following years our collaborative work has resulted in bringing the voices of these young women to an international audience vocalizing the crucial importance of educating girls, even within war zones.

Working in close partnership with the founder of ASAH for over 5 years, I produced & filmed on location in eastern Africa over the course of 8 trips, and edited at least one short film per year to inform and inspire current and future donors to continue their support in educating girls in South Sudan. From South Sudan to Kenya and Uganda, I followed the journey and successes and highlighted the organizations shifting needs for continued progress as ASAH reacted nimbly to renewed civil war and an ever-shifting political environment in which to operate.
