“Maternal health investments are delivering real results. CARE and our partners, working with some of the world’s poorest communities, have seen women’s lives saved when the right interventions are put in place. These same women have been empowered to build healthy, productive lives for themselves and their children and become leaders in their communities. Yet, much more remains to be done.” - Peru coverage, annual report for CARE international

“I’m tired. I just want to go home. I’ll try again another day.”

The reasons for human migration; crossing arbitrary borders drawn in the sand where coyote tracks are wiped clean daily by scouring winds, continue to shift in reaction to climate and political change. The stories of those of us looking for a solid foundation on which to grow and build our dreams remain constant.

Photos from one community of recovering addicts living along the US/MX border, who use the concept of helping others in need as part of their recovery, heading to the desert every weekend to feed and warm people on their journey north who might otherwise tire and huddle, dehydrated, under scrub brush waiting to be found by border patrol, loaded into vans and sent home to try and follow the dream another day.
